In one week our health team immunised 730 children against measles in schools, villages and roadside stations across the Mount Elgon range, carrying supplies up to 90 minutes each way on foot and beating the district target of 627 doses by more than 100.
Construction of a permanent two-room school building began in August, with pupils and parents helping to clear land and lay bricks. All 190 learners also received textbooks, notebooks and art supplies thanks to our donors. Roofing, doors and flooring are still to be funded.
After a community entry meeting with Bududa District Local Government and Bumasheti Sub County, ground levelling has begun on the site of the BCDP Community Hospital. The hospital will bring essential care, immunisation and maternal and child health services closer to about 14,000 people.

Zion Community Medical Clinic officially launched its Child Days Plus Immunisation Outreach Programme, taking routine vaccines to families across Butooto Sub County with the support of Tropical Thunder Vienna. Since 2024 the clinic has given more than 12,700 vaccine doses.
Fundraising is under way for a maternity ward at the clinic. Today the nearest delivery facility is a steep, slippery descent below the villages we serve, and too many mothers still give birth at home without trained help. The new ward will offer safe deliveries close to home and help reduce maternal and infant mortality.
The Ministry of Health and UNEPI commissioned the clinic's new solar-powered vaccine freezer and trained our health workers in safe vaccine handling. Ranked among the top-performing immunisation sites in Manafwa District, Zion was awarded a second freezer.
